RUX Welcomes Intern for Fall 2022
Meet Krasi Staykov as our New RUX Intern!
My name is Krasimir Staykov, and I’m an intern with RUX for the fall of 2022 and a sophomore at the University of Louisville, where I’m studying political science and French. I joined the RUX team because I’m interested in building a shared sense of Kentucky identity. As someone who grew up in Lexington and lives in Louisville, I originally felt hesitant to call myself a Kentuckian. Statewide bridge-building nonprofits like RUX grounded me in my identity, and I want to support their development and flourishing during and beyond my time in college.
While on the team, I’ll support a wide range of activities, from grant writing to communications to alumni relations. Most recently, I attended the Estill County Community Intensive Weekend, where I met RUX cohort members and supported behind-the-scenes activities.
Within minutes of arriving, I realized just how special RUX is. Despite my difference in age from the cohort and their pre-existing relationships, everyone welcomed me with open arms and warm conversation. Respect and mutual admiration shone through each conversation I witnessed between cohort members, staff, and community members.
I learned a lot about Estill County that weekend, but I also learned about the deep-seated community in RUX, the driving element of the organization’s success. I’m thrilled to continue building that community and ensuring its longevity.
