Growing community at the Hotel Metropolitan // Artists Respond Guest Blog
Work is ongoing at the Hotel Metropolitan in Paducah to create a garden!
As part of their Artists Respond grant, the Hotel Metropolitan is continuing to cultivate this new green space. This spring, the work will continue with flower planting and installing garden beds.
Restored in 1908, the historical Hotel Metropolitan hosted famous African-American sports figures, thinkers, and entertainers, including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and B.B. King, prior to desegregation. An African-American heritage museum, the hotel is a "Save America's Treasures" project.
The Hotel Metropolitan and owner Ms. Betty Dobson are long-time partners & supporters of the Kentucky Rural-Urban Exchange since RUX’s first visit to Paducah in 2015. We’re excited to see the Hotel Metropolitan bring together the community through this new shared space!
